The Cold Process Soap Method

So, what is different about the Cold Process soaps we sell and the normal, everyday soap found in the shops?

Cold process is a method of soap making that has been around for a very long time, before all the synthetic ingredients that go into many of todays 'soaps' were even thought about.    Natural oils, such as Olive, Coconut and Palm, are blended together, and when they are combined with a Lye solution (usually made from Sodium Hydroxide and water) a reaction called SAPONIFICATION takes place, which turns the oils into soap.

Furthermore, this method of soap making naturally creates glycerine, which is usually extracted from the mass-produced soaps.   By extracting the glycerine, the commercial soaps may last a bit longer, but they also are more prone to dry the skin out.   We leave the glycerine in our soap, and the result is a bar of soap which is kinder and more moisturising.

Add to this already indulgent bar of soap, a range of pure essential oils and other natural ingredients, each oil chosen for their aromatherapy benefits as well as for their pleasant and sometimes intriguing scents, and the result is a product that is gentle, good for the skin, made to EU standards and fully assessed for their safety.
